  14. I run a program that searchs for, and issues advisory cancels for,
  15. large binaries in the akr, biz, comp, misc, news, rec, and sci
  16. hierachies.
  17.  
  18. I have issued 14 cancels for large binary files (average size 156,261
  19. characters - total size 2,187,658 characters) posted to 11 different
  20. unmoderated discussion groups in the comp and rec hierarchies with
  21. cross-posts into fido7 and t-nes groups as follows:
  22.    4 comp.os.ms-windows.apps.misc
  23.    1 t-nez.modem.usr
  24.    1 rec.ponds
  25.    1 rec.games.frp.dnd
  26.    1 rec.autos.sport.nascar
  27.    1 rec.arts.comics.marketplace
  28.    1 rec.arts.comics.alternative
  29.    1 fido7.modem
  30.    1 comp.sys.ibm.pc.soundcard.tech
  31.    1 comp.sys.ibm.pc.soundcard.misc
  32.    1 comp.sys.ibm.pc.soundcard.advocacy
  33.    1 comp.sys.ibm.pc.misc
  34.    1 comp.dcom.modems

  36. The cancels in the non-targeted groups are an unavoidable consequence
  37. of the way cancels work.  A cross-posted article is only one article.
  38. When it is canceled from one group it is canceled from all groups.

  43. group, or the criteria that I used to select it, read the full report
